Re: Eligibility criteria to apply for CDS examination? I am studying Diploma in Electronics and Communication a course of 3 years offered by Board of Technical Education. Diploma is considered as equivalent to 10 2 and for 2nd year engineering course admissions will be allowed. Will I be permitted to write CDS Exam? |

CDS is popularly known as Combined Defence Service UPSC conducts this exam twice a year eligibility for the exam candidates need to hold a bachelor's degree in any field candidates must belong to India only age criteria according to it for Indian Military Academy minimum age- 19 yrs maximum age -24yrs Air Force Academy minimum age-19 years maximum age- 23 years Naval Academy- minimum age-19 years maximum age-22 years Officers’ Training Academy minimum age-19 years maximum age-25 years procedure of selection selection process contains 3 stages candidates who will be able to clear all the 3 stages will only get selected first stage consists of written exam second stages comprises of ssb and last stages inlcuded medical test |

Re: Eligibility criteria to apply for CDS examination? Hello all.... I am very clear on the age limit for the o.t.a. being 25. But the c.d.s. (i) 2012 examination ad' that was published in the employment news dated 29 oct. - 4 nov. clearly mentions age limit for the o.t.a. born not earlier than 2nd jan. 1988 and not later than 1st jan 1994. My d.o.b. is 09.08.1988 and am going 2 receive my degree next year in december. So I am planning to sit for the c.d.s. (ii) exam 2012. Will i still be eligible for the exam and also can anybody please clarify the difference between the age limits of the o.t.a. and the c.d.s. Because its my understanding that the only way into the o.t.a. is through the c.d.s. examination. Thank you and all the best to everyone aspiring to join the Indian military...Godspeed |

Combine Defence Services (CDS) Examination is premier entrance examination to those graduate aspirants who are willing to join Indian Defence Forces. CDS examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commision (UPSC) twice in a year in the month of August and September. Eligibility : Candidates must be male Indian candidates having graduation degree in any stream/ BE/ B Tech degree from a recognised university. If candidate is willing to join Navy or Air Force wing then he must haved passed Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level. Final year appearing students can also apply provisionally for the examination. CDSE official advertisment would be published in employment newspaper in the month of april and september every year. |

Subjects of Bhutan and Nepal and Tibetan refugees who have migrated to India and settled in India prior to 1962 are also eligible. Other than citizens of India all other candidate should have a certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India to be eligible to appear for the exam. Each of these four academies’ has other eligibility criteria in terms of Age, Education etc. The details are given below Indian Military Academy: Unmarried men between the age group of 19 to 24 years are eligible to take up the examination. The candidates must also have a degree of a recognized university or equivalent Naval Academy: Unmarried men in the age group of 19 to 22 years are eligible to appear for the exam. The candidates should also posses a degree of recognized university and with Mathematics and Physics as their subjects in 10+2 level or candidates with Bachelor of Engineering degrees are eligible. Air Force Academy: Unmarried men in the age group of 19 to 23 years are eligible. The candidates must have a degree in B.Sc Maths & Physics of Bachelor of Engineering are eligible. For Indian Military Academy(IMA) age limit is from 19 -24 years. candidates of more than 24 years of age are not eligible. For Officers' Training Academy(OTA) age limit is from 19-25 years. Naval Academy and Air force Academy also have same age limits with 19-22 and 19-23 of age respectively. you can apply for IMA and OTA but not Naval Academy and Air Force Academy. thank you and best wishes. |
