Re: What is a better option between General Insurance AO or Bank PO?

Hello Everybody,

I'm an AO (Specialist IT) at Regional Office, (RO) @ National Insurance Co. Ltd.. and I think, I can respond to your queries to some extent by putting some light on the job profile of an AO. Bring a Specialist, You can either posted at Regional Office or Head-office, in your initial posting (Scale 1 - Scale 2). That means, You can enjoy the posting at State Capitals and Metropolitans. You can avail lease facilities in these places. Lease allowance- Rs 9000 Rs 800(Mntnce) at State Capitals and Rs 13,500 1,500 at Metropolitans in Scale 1. The job profile is not so strenous but at times, You need to get involved. The initial salary, i used to get was Rs. 34,500/- in hand, apart from lease. The gross is somewhere around Rs. 38,700/- Since, I've not availed any lease facility, so I didn't get lease benefit. only HRA@ 8% of Basic(17,240)= Rs, 1368/-. Saturday is off. Office Timings- 10 to 5:45. But, I used to come at 10:45 and stay till 6:30 or 6:45, in weekdays. A lot of tours for ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS ON SPECIALIST PROFILE and I'm no exception. Generally, tour for 4-5 days in a month and For that, You are eligible for Taxi (A/C) Hire or 2nd Class AC with Handsome Tour Allowance, apart from salary, grossing to Rs.7-8k as saving, after paying all bills. There's plenty of time for you to study and prepare for competitive as well as departmental exams. The growth potential is tremendous. The salary is quite high to compared with that of any PO. Plus You get a 10,000/- Mobile with Postpaid Offer Packed Sim for all AO. Specialist, in addition, Get a latest LAPATOP (i5 or i7) Rs 80,000 to 1,25,000/-, a 1TB External HDD( which You can buy and get it reimbursed from Office) and a 3G DATA CARD with 8GB Unlimited Data Plan in addition. The promotional aspects are great. The atmosphere is really great and quite homely. There's always an opportunity to learn and you'll enjoy, lest you prioritize your goals and routine. The salary is also gonna hike up, from next year and will be somewhere around Rs. 50000/- in sometime soon. For most of the time, You'll enjoy home posting or in home state. A no. of my colleagues are enjoying their posting and are a testimony to this.

Best of Luck to all of You. Remember, it;s not the opportunities given, but the chances taken. So, JET..SET...GO..!!
