Re: How much salary an Income Tax Officer fresher get?  The survival of a country depends on taxes collected by the government. After all to construct roads, power plants, highways, schools etc government do need funds. All these funds come to government through various taxes out of which Income Tax is an important part. Without income tax, government would not be able to improve infrastructure or provide cheap education and healthcare facilities to the poor of the country. Income Tax Department of India works directly under the Department of Revenue in the Ministry of Finance. The role of Income Tax Officer is no deal with income tax related matters for the Central Board of Direct Taxes. In a large country like India, very few people pay income tax properly. In fact less than 4 percent people pay their income tax. The large section of people who don't pay taxes are called defaulters. The one name these defaulters fear the most is Income Tax Officer. The role of Income Tax Officer is to hunt down such defaulters and bring them to the notice of the depatment so these people could be forced to pay taxes on the basis of their real income. This is not a easy job, some of the defaulters could include very powerful people like Movie stars, Politicians, sportsmen, businessmen etc. However Income Tax Officer has to take action regardless of that. Those who are interested in becoming Income Tax Officer and hunt down defaulters are required to appear for entrance exam by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). Eligibility 1. A graduation degree in any stream from recognized institute. 2. Final year students of graduation course may also apply. 3. The age limit is 18 to 27 years. 4. The upper age limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC. 5. The age limit for SC/ST is relaxed by 5 years. Exam Pattern There are three stages of the SSC Income Tax Exam: 1) Preliminary Exam 2) Main Exam 3) Personality Test Salary The Income Tax Officer comes in the pay scale of Rs 6,500 to Rs 10,500. |
