To join the Indian military forces the the NDA or CDS re the best options where both the exams are conducted for all three wings of military. Air force Navy Indian army If you are 12th passed out candidate then you can join it through the NDA exam and the age should be 16.5-19 years for applying this exam. And to join the Navy and Air Force wing the candidate must be passed 12th with physics and mathematics and other candidates can apply for only army wing. To join it for a graduate candidate can apply for CDS exam only parameter change here is age and qualification else will be same age should be 21-24 to join the force through this test. |

To get admission in Indian Military Academy in 2016, the candidate (your son) must have to appear in National Defence Academy (NDA) 2016 examination which is conducted by UPSC twice a year for candidates who are interested to join in Indian Army/Navy and Air Force. Candidates who have completed 12th standard from a recognised board are eligible to appear in NDA 2016 examination. By qualifying the written test, you will be called for Interview and Physical test rounds, If your son qualify in these rounds, your son can get admission in Indian Military Academy in 2016. |

To get into Indian Military Academy you can apply for the following types of entries : - National Defence Academy /Naval Academy : you must be 10+2 pass out with science stream. Age must be within 19 years. - Combined Defence Service : Graduation degree from a recognized university. Age should be within 25 years. - University Entry Scheme : Engineering degree pre-final year student of a recognized university with 60% marks. To get your ward admitted in the Indian Military Academy the candidate need to qualify in the NDA or the CDS entrance examination conducted by the UPSC twice every year. The eligibility to appear for the NDA examination is :- * Candidates must have passed the 10+2 from the recognised board. * Candidates age must be between 16.5-19.5 years. For the CDS examination the eligibility is :- * Candidates must have passed the graduation from the recognised university. * Candidates age must be between 19-24 years. Since you haven't mentioned about the educational qualification of your son, so here are the options which you have- If your son have passed intermediate then,he can try for NDA. Here you have to note that if he has done your diploma after the high school then unfortunately he won't not be eligible for the same exam. Let me now, tell you the other necessary eligibility criteria and then you can decide how to proceed with your plans of going into the Army- 1. Age should be between 16.5 to 19 years. 2. At least intermediate cleared with any stream. 3. Male candidate 4. Unmarried candidate. if he is a graduate the he can very appear for different exams like- - CDS (Combined defense services) - AFCAT The basic eligibility criteria for such exams are- 1) Age- 20-24 years 2) Graduation 3) Indian Citizen 4) Male candidate. |

Indian Military Academy ( IMA ) is one of the four wings of Combined Defense Services (CDS) and therefore to join IMA you need to clear the CDS examination. CDS examinations are held twice every year by Union Public Service Commission twice every year which are basically known as CDS I & CDS II. Also the examination is held in two stages which are general ability test and Service Selection Board interview held in mentioned order. Also the eligibility criteria for the same examination for your desired wing are as below :- --> You must be an Indian resident. --> Your age must lie within 19 years to 24 years. --> You must be physically and mentally fit as per the requirement of service. --> You must have bachelor degree with any discipline from a recognized university. Final year student of graduation are also allowed to appear. Thank you for asking this question and join to join the reputed Indian Military academy is an achievement in itself but to join IMA your son have to crack CDS exam and CDS exam is conducted by UPSC and happens twice a year. to know about the timings of the examination you can regularly visit UPSC website or the daily newspaper. But the major requirement to apply for CDS is that your son must complete his graduation in any discipline and his age should be between 19-24 years. and to prepare for this exam you can purchase CDS examination books or can take coaching and if your son is an Engineering graduate then your son can apply for the Engineering graduated entry and for that the age that is required is 20-27 years, Eligible candidates are directly eligible for SSB interview.
