To Become a CID you must write Exam which is conducted by Staff Selection Commission. And also there is a separate level of exam for CID conducted by CIT itself. Through this also you will have an option to enter into CID department.

But the selection process is too tough for CID's and IB's. Best way to get into CID is through SSC Exam. But you need to get a good score you will easily shortlisted for further process.

CID stands for the Crime Investigation Department. There are two ways through which you can join CID.

First one is through Indian Police Services. Being a mechanical engineer, you can apply for the Civil Services examination conducted by the UPSC every year. Any graduate or candidates in final year can apply for the exam. The age limit is 21-32 years. You must clear all the three stages to become IPS officer then you can later on join CID.

For Sub inspector post in CID, you can appear for the Staff Selection commission Combined Graduate level exam for which also the educational qualification required is bachelor's degree in any discipline. The age limit is 20-30 years.

Re: How to become CID after B.Tech? What are the steps which we need to follow?

For your kind information i want to tell you that Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Exam is conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for various posts like Constable, Sub Inspector and other Officer Level posts.

But for that you must have to fulfill the below given eligibility criteria :

** You must have graduation in any stream from a recognized university.

** Your age limit between 21 to 30 years.

** Three years upper age relaxation for OBC category candidates and Five years upper age relaxation for SC/ST category candidates.

For getting the job you simply have to appear in the written exam and if you qualify the written exam then you will be called for the interview. After successful clearing the interview you will be offered with a job.
