Re: Can b.e (mechanical engineering) students write cds exam? IF a person is BE MECHANICAL ENGINEER STUDENT and has a NCC C CERTIFICATE ...so what are the eligibility criteria for him.... Please help me with correct information |

Combined Defense Services (CDS) Exam is generally conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) to recuirt the Indian Military Academy(IMA), Officers Training Academy(OTA), Naval Academy and Air Force Academy(AFA). & in CSD you have to face three stage of tests: 1.written exam,2.SSB interview and,3.Medical test. As you didn't mention your date of birth, so it is difficult to say about your eligibility, but if you fulfill all the criteria of CDS then you could sure apply for CDS. & for more information regarding eligibility criteria you can visit: www.upsc.gov.in But as a Mechanical engineer you can also apply for EKT(engineering knowledge test) & university entry scheme for the technical post of Defence. Dear sir, Clearly mentioned at their website: For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy-Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.For Naval Academy : B.Sc. (with Physics & Mathematics) or Bachelor of Engineering.For Air Force Academy : Degree of Recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering. |

Hi friend Combined defense service Exam any body can apply, who should have a degree for writing the exam, you should knew the basic in History , Geography, science and general knowledge for this exam http://www.successcds.net/UPSCExam/CDS-Combined-Defence-Services.html currently there is opening for that if you are interested you can apply for that soon, after that you should go for the training , Medically you should Fet for that exam Good luck, success is yours friend |

The minimum eligibility criteria for the exam is Degree of a recognised University Age limit : It depends on the branch you are applying for. For Indian Military academy - 19 to 24 For Naval academy - 19 to 22 For Air Force academy - 19 to 23 For Officers Training Academy - 19 to 25 Check out your age limit before you apply Regarding Syllabus The written exam syllabus is common for everyone who apply for the exam, the only difference is when you are applying for OTA (officers training academy). You must know one thing without respect of branch every one of B.E. are eligible for the exam but they need some eligibility criteria to fulfill. CDS selection process consists of following three stages: 1.CDS written exam, 2.SSB interview and 3.Medical test. If you appear for IMA, NA and AFA then you have English, General knowledge and Elementary mathematics. If you appear dor OTA then there will be only English and general knowledge. The basic qualification required for writing the CDS exam is that a student should be in his/her final year of graduation or should have completed the graduation. The syllabus for CDS is common for all and includes English, GK and Mathematics. (mechanical)so, of course you are eligible to appear in CDS exam. Friend, syllabus of CDS is not different for B.E. student. I will advice you that do not join army through CDS, it will be tough for you to join army through this scheme. For engineers , there are various different scheme to join indian defense services. The various scheme are as follows: UES(university entry scheme) : through this scheme ,you have to face direct interview and after getting success you will be call forSSB. you can appear for this in your 3rd year and 4th year. 2.EKT(engineering knowledge test): Through this scheme you have to give a written test ,after completing this stage you will be call for SSB. 3. SSC(short service commission) : In this scheme,also you have to appear for written test.After clearing written test you will be called for SSB.Actually in this scheme, you will be commissioned for 15 years in the force. NOTE : Friend,for the preparation of written test ,you should read the mechanics, math,physics that you have read in 1st year. Career in Indian Defense is full of adventure and life.There you will get respect in the society as well as money and security of yourself and your belongings.
