# IPS stands for Indian Police Service.

# IPS Examination is conducted along with IAS Examination every year by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on national level.

# Prescribed eligibility criteria:

* Candidate must be Indian citizen.
* Candidate must possess any valid bachelor degree from recognised university.
* Candidates in the final year of graduation are also provisionally eligible.

# Required age limit:

* Candidate of general category must be of 20-32 years.
* Candidate of OBC category must be of 20-35 years.
* Candidate of SC and ST category must be of 20-37 years.

# UPSC has fixed certain number of attempts for separately for all categories mentioned below:

* Six attempts fixed for general category.
* Nine attempts fixed for OBC category.
* Unlimited number attempts fixed for SC and ST categories.

# Scheme and Pattern of Civil Service Examination:

* Civil Service Aptitude Test (or Preliminary Examination)

IPS examination is very popular in India. Every year large number of peoples are applying for it. The examination criteria are very simple. The applicants should have completed degree course. Age should be between 21-32 years.

The application forms will be available in the month of June. IPS examination books are available all the local markets as well as popular websites.

IPS stands for Indian Police Service. It comes under the Civil Services examination. The eligibility criteria for this exam is that any candidate who has done bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university can apply for this exam.

The minimum age limit for candidates of all category is 21 years and upper age limit is 32 years for general category candidate.

There are six attempts for general category candidates. Online application for CSE 2016 will start from 23rd April, 2016 at the official website www.upsconline.gov.in.

There are three stages of this exam:

1. Preliminary exam (CSAT qualifying).

2. Mains exam.

3. Interview.

>>At basic level, old NCERT books of 9-12th for History, new NCERT books for Political science, Economics etc.

>>Indian Polity by Laxmikant.

>>Economy by Ramesh Singh.
