IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services.

You must be a graduate to apply for this exam of IAS. Passing marks in bachelor's degree is enough to apply for Civil Services examination.

Age criteria:

Minimum age limit is 21 years on 1st august of year of exam.

Civil Services Exam are conducted by UPSC every year for IAS, IFS, IRS, IPS aspirants.

Last year, Civil Services Preliminary Exam was conducted on 23 August, 2015 and Mains was conducted on 18 December, 2015.

There is no such percentage criteria for appearing in Civil Services Exam.

For appearing in this exam, you must meet following minimum requirements:

Age Criteria:
  • For General: 21 to 30 years
  • For OBC: 21 to 33 years
  • For SC/ST: 21 to 35 years

No. of Attempts:
  • For General: 3
  • For OBC: 7
  • For SC/ST: No Restriction

Candidate has to appear for UPSC Civil Services Exam in order to become an IAS officer .

Eligibility criteria required to appear for civil services exam :-

Nationality : Indian.

Edu. Qualification :Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university.


Age criteria :

General category :21 years to 32 years .

OBC candidates : 21 years to 35 years .

SC/ST candidates : 21 years to 37 years .

PWD candidates :21 years to 42 years .


No. of attempts :

General category : 4 times under the creamy layer,

OBC candidates : 7 times and

SC/ST candidates : No limits .


Exam process :

*Preliminary Exam

*Main exam

*Personality Interview.

Eligibility criteria for this exam:

Bachelor's degree from a recognized university. Just score 35% or more in bachelor's degree, you will be eligible for Civil Services examination.

Age limit for exam is 21-32 years.

Preliminary exam.

Mains exam.

Interview.

First of all to tell about IAS exam, it is one of the civil service exam and is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year. To join in this post you need to possess certain qualifications and that might include such as:
  • Nationality
  • Age limit
  • Educational Qualification

To be detailed about these criteria's it is as follows:

# Candidate applying should have citizenship in India.

# Age limit needed is 21-30 years in the case of general category candidate. If you belong to SC/ST you get a relaxation of 5 years and in the case of OBC you get 3 years relaxation.

# Regarding the educational qualification, candidate need to have completed a degree from a recognized university and that can be from any stream. There is no specific percentage of marks which is mentioned regarding the criteria, but you need to have secured a descent percentage to be eligible.

If you satisfy all the above mentioned criteria then you are eligible for applying for the IAS exam.

Educational Qualification:- To give this exam you need to be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.

IAS preliminary exam consists of two papers- General Studies paper 1 and General Studies paper 2 . But for mains only the marks of General Studies paper 1 will be considered to make the final list. In the second paper you just have to get 33% of marks.

To become IAS officer you have to appear and qualify in Civil Services examination.

Anyone who have passed graduation from any recognised university with passing percentage are eligible to appear for examination.

So, there is no limitation on aggregate to appear for Civil Services examination. There are three stages of examination. For other information about examination visit at www.upsc.gov.in.

The new Eligibility criteria according to the UPSC are :

Educational Qualification : Candidate should have passed or appearing in final year of Graduation level of study

Age Limit :Candidate those who belong to General category should be 21-32 years
Candidate those who belong to OBC category should be 21-35 years
Candidate those who belong to SC/ST category should be 21-37 years

Number Of Attempts : For General category : 6 attempts
For OBC : 9 attempts
For SC/ST : No limits

Stages of Examination : 1. Preliminary exam

3. Personal Interview

Clearing all the stages successfully will lead you to get a position of IAS in India.

There is no minimum required percentage to appear for Civil Services examination in graduation.

So candidates passed graduation in any discipline are eligible to appear for examination if there age is between 21-32 years. There is some relaxation in age limitations to appear for examination.

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service and the examination which one needs to clear for becoming an IAS officer is called as Civil Services Examination which is held once every year by Union Public Service Commission.

--> The minimum eligibility criteria required for appearing in the same examination are as here under :-

* You must have the citizenship of India with your age lying within 21 years to 32 years in case you are a general category candidate otherwise age relaxation is relaxation applicable for reserved category candidates as per the government norms.

* You must have either completed your graduation degree course or must be in the final year of same degree course with any discipline from a recognized university. There in no requirement of minimum marks in the same degree course for appearing in the same examination.

The examination is conducted in three stages which includes Preliminary Test, Mains and Personal interview respectively.

Minimum criteria for Indian Administrative Services examination is graduation from an UGC recognized university. UPSC has clearly mentioned that a candidate just need to secure passing marks in graduation to be eligible for Civil Services examination.

So, percentage of marks do not play any vital role in case of Civil Services exam. You must be hardworking, dedicated and determined towards your goal to crack the exam. Age limit is 21-32 years. There are six attempts for general category, nine attempts for OBC candidate and no limit for SC/ST candidates.

The eligibility criteria for appearing in the IAS exam says that you must have passed your bachelor's degree with minimum of 55% marks in any of discipline from any recognized university. Also your age must not be more than 32 years. The relaxation in age is permitted as per the rules. One more thing is that you must be an Indian candidate for appearing in the IAS exam.

Educational qualification for IAS
Candidate must hold degree from government recognized university.
Candidate who are in final year or awaiting results are also eligible for IAS exam.
Candidate should be Indian.
For general candidate upper age limit is 32 years with 6 attempts.
For OBC upper age limit is 35 years with 9 attempts
For SC/ST candidate upper age limit is 42 years and number of attempts is up to the age limit.

For the IAS Exam the candidate must have these eligibilities:
Education:- Candidate must have completed his/her graduation or any bachelor's degree with minimum 50% marks recognized from respective university.

Age Criteria:- Candidate age must have above than 21 years. For the General Category Candidates the maximum age is 32 years while in case of OBC Candidate they got 3 years age relaxation and for them maximum age limit is 35 years. And for SC/ST candidates there are 5 years age relaxation with 37 years maximum age limit.

Attempts:- For General Category Candidates the attempts limit is 6 while for OBC Candidate the limit is 9 and for the SC/ST Category candidates there is no limit for attempts.
