Tips to prepare:-

You should have a good understanding of concepts and skills to solve numericals that need good aptitude and have lengthy calculations.
You should solve all types of problems like short-answer questions, subjective-type problems etc to speed up accuracy.
The next step is obviously to have a good sense of your strength and weaknesses and preparing a time table accordingly.
The start to your preparation should begin with your class 12 books. You can also take the help of the NCERT books.
Avoid using too many reference books. Be choosy when it comes to using these books. Focus should be on those books which covers the syllabus properly and provides more variety in terms of questions.
Time management is also an important thing to consider when preparing for IIT exams. So you should keep a stop watch close by when solving practice papers.
