10+2 passed/appearing female candidates cannot directly for joining IAF.

Because, female candidates are not eligible to apply for any defence exam at 10+2 level like NDA, TES 10+2, etc.

You must complete your graduation in any discipline from a recognized institute.

And then, you will have to apply for AFCAT Exam.

Through AFCAT exam, you can join Ground Duty, Flying, Technical branch of IAF.

Academic Qualification and Age Criteria are as follows:
FLYING BRANCH:
  • Graduation in B.E./B.Tech
  • Physics and Mathematics in 10+2 with minimum 60% marks in each subject.
  • Age: 19-23 years.

TECHNICAL BRANCH:
  • Graduation in B.E./B.Tech through Aeronautical Engineering Branch
  • Age: 18-28 years.

GROUND DUTY BRANCH:
  • For Graduates: Age Limit is 20-23 years.
  • For Post Graduates/LLB (Five years integrated course): Age Limit is 20-25 years.
  • For LLB (Three years course after Graduation): Age Limit is 20 to 26 years.
  • For M.Ed/Ph.D/CA/ICWA: Age Limit is 20 to 27 years.

No, you are not eligible to join Indian Air Force after 10+2. Candidate have to appear and qualify in NDA examination for final selection.

NDA examination is conducted by UPSC twice every year. As per one of important eligibility to appear for examination is only male candidate with age 16.5-19.5 are eligible.

So, you are not eligible to appear for examination, so cannot join IAF after 10+2, but you can appear for CDS examination after graduation for recruitment. For more information about examination visit at www.upsc.gov.in.

*IAF stands for Indian Air Force. At 10+2 level, only one entrance exam is conducted for admission into different branches of Air Force, called as National Defence Academy. But only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply for this exam.

*For different branches of Indian Airforce like technical branch, ground duty branch and flying branch, at graduate level, you can apply for AFCAT and Combined Defence Services exam. Girls are eligible for both of these exams.
