After completion of 3 year polytechnic course you can directly get a chance to enter into 2nd year of B.Tech with same stream. To apply for admission there is a entrance exams available in different states like ECET in Ap.

So through this entrance score you will get admission directly into 2nd year of B.E/B.Tech as lateral entry.

The best career option after completion of diploma is to pursue degree program. You can get admission in degree course after diploma through Lateral Entry Entrance Test. LEET is conducted by different state government for admission of diploma candidates directly into second year of engineering.

For LEET exam, you must have minimum of 60% marks in diploma. You can apply for any LEET exam conducted by different state government for admission in any engineering college of that particular state. After completion of degree, you can apply for GATE exam for jobs in PSU and other sector. At present you will not be able to get good jobs, so it is better to go for degree course.

Re: What is the next step to follow after completion of polytechnic 3 years?

After completion of your 3 years Polytechnic course from a Government recognised board, you have two options to build your career. The first option you have is to pursue your higher studies and the next choice you have is to do a job. Diploma holders have good opportunities in many organisations like RRB, DRDO, etc.,.

If you are interested to pursue your higher studies after completion of your Polytechnic course, you can apply for admission to B.E or B.Tech course through Lateral Entry admission process. You need to appear and qualify the LEET examination conducted by your respective state technical board of education. By qualifying the LEET examination, you can get direct admission in second year of B.E or B.Tech course.

As there are many job opportunities available for candidates who have completed Polytechnic course. If you are interested to do a job then, you can apply for posts in RRB, DRDO, etc.,. when the notification has released.

At present, the Bachelor's degree also has less level, so, I suggest you to pursue your higher studies after completion of your Polytechnic course.
