Re: Which one is better between Microbiology and Biochemistry? Hello. I'm having problems with choosing which course to study in the university. I already narrowed my choices down to biochemistry and microbiology, and I like both chemistry and biology a lot but I still don't know which one to go for. Both have good opportunities point is what you like more, that matters Ultimately its your call what you want to do in future. keep in mind that all the life science subjects complementary to each other. Whatever degree you acquire you need to grab knowledge of all the subjects of life science |

Well actually if you check more carefully, biochemist has much more lab work and a variety of them in comparison to microbiology . You have your organic, physical chem, & biochemist labs in 3rd year besides just microbiology . Biochemist courses don't really have any math besides the 301 lab and the 3rd year Physical chem courses/labs where there are a lot of tedious Excel work & other complex talc's that makes 1st/2nd year labs seem like a joke. Bloc 403 is an enzyme kinetics course where you do all those boring enzyme rate calculations. If you really want to do research, i would recommend biochemist because you are exposed more to the different fields unless you are a die hard microbiology/immunology bacteria guy. However, biochemist is more in depth & detailed, whether that is a good or bad thing to you. However in microbiology, there's a lot more space for electives to take or do whatever you want. |

After graduating from Bio Chemistry you are able to :: Biologist Boimedical Scientist Biotechnologist Microbiologist Research officer etc WHILE I don't see so much wide scope in Microbiology in current Date in India. |
