Re: What is the difference between IAS, PCS and IRS?

IRS is INDIAN REVENUE SERVICE. These people are the tax collectors - income tax, wealth tax - and wield judicial powers of penalty (100% to 300% of tax evaded) and can even start prosecution for imprisonment.
All high income cases - business firms, companies, individuals etc - are assessed by them to check whether they have shown their true income.

IAS is Indian Administrative Service - They use the money collected above to plan and execute the developmental functions of the government.

IPS is Indian Police Service

ALL r recruited by a common exam called CIVIL SERVICES EXAM which is conducted ANNUALLY by the UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION

Re: What is the difference between IAS, PCS and IRS?

As your interested only in IPS there is no separate exam you have to write a common exam called CSE(Civil Services Examination)

Know the details about this examination.

IPS is an central service and also deeply regarded as d most prestigious job..

Like this service there are other 24 services for which a common entrance test is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission)

The main basic eligibility criteria for Civils Service Examination

->Candidate must have 21 years of age

->Candidate must complete at least degree from a recognized Indian University

this is all about the basic eligibility criteria of CSE

As per your qualification if you have completed Degree then definitely you are eligible for the exam..

You can go through the examination code for Civil Service Examination in the official website of UPSC

Re: What is the difference between IAS, PCS and IRS?

The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is the administrative civil service of the executive branch of the Government of the Republic of India.

The officers of the IAS play a major role in managing the bureaucracy of both the Union Government (Central Government) and the state governments, with its officers holding strategic posts across the country. It is one of the three All India Services.[1]

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is the revenue service of the United States federal government. The agency is a bureau of the Department of the Treasury, and is under the immediate direction of the Commissioner of Internal Revenue. The IRS is responsible for collecting taxes and the interpretation and enforcement of the Internal Revenue Code.

PCS IS PUNJAB CIVIL SERVICES EXAM WHICH IS CONDUCTED EVERY YEAR AND IS BASED ON THE PATTERN OF UPSC

Re: What is the difference between IAS, PCS and IRS?

hi,

Indian Administrative Services, abbreviated as IAS, are actually the civil based administrative services of the Government of India.
The exams for post of IAS are conducted at the nation based scale, and candidates from all over the country, compromising from all the state of the nation, can enroll within the entrance test. The IAS offers are recruited by the Union Government of India under the advice of Union Public Service Commissions, famously known as UPSC.

Provincial Civil Services, abbreviated as PCS, are actually the civil based administrative services of the State Government. These officers relate to the policy making of the state to which they belong. These officers are also selected through an entrance test conducted by the state based Public Service Commission.

The exams for the post of PCS are conducted at the state level, where candidates that are the domicile residents of that state are only allowed to appear in the entrance exam with a certain number of seats reserved for other state candidates. There are also reservations of seats within the state seats.
thanks
