You are not updated with latest pattern of Mains examination of Union Public Service Commission Civil Services examination. Candidates have to select only one subject for optional paper. Optional subject selection should be done on one's own interest.

Economics is one of the best optional subject which is scoring and opted by commerce stream candidates. There will be two papers of 250 marks each of one subject.

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services. UPSC conducts Civil Services examination every year for selection of candidates into different services like IAS, IPS, IRS etc. To apply for this exam, a candidate must be graduate or in final year of graduation. The age limit for exam is 21-32 years.

Now, candidates have to select only one subject for optional paper in mains exam. There is two papers of 250 marks each in Mains exam of optional paper. You are from commerce background, you can either select Accountancy or Economics as optional paper. Both are equally good, you can choose any one of them.
