Height Required for IPS Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm Exam Date Prelim in 1st week of May & Mains in 2nd week of Oct Eligibility Criteria : 1.Age limit 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs . Ex-servicemen will get 5 more years 2.Number of Attempts Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt. 3.Restrictions on applying for the examination: A candidate who is appointed to the Indian Administrative Service or the Indian Foreign Service on the results of an earlier examination and continues to be a member of that service will not be eligible to compete at this examination. Exam Pattern : All India Combined Competitive Examination for the Civil Services conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) comprises of two successive stages: >>Preliminary Examination: It is of objective type, which is a qualifying examination. >>Main Examination: It consists of written examination and interview. The Preliminary Examination is held in May/June and the Main Examination in October/November. One must begin preparations of the main exam along with preliminary exam. This is because there is little time for the Main exam if one waits for the results of the Preliminaries. |

And to apply for this examination you need bachelor degree from a recognised colleges and university and your age should between 21 to 30 years. Height qualification for IPS - The male candidate should be 165cm and female candidate should be 150cm for general category candidates. In the case of candidates coming under SC, ST and for OBC the height required is 160cm for male and 145cm for female Candidates. Height – Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Dear Friend , * IPS stands for Indian Police Service. * The Exam for IPS post is taken through Civil Services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission every year. The Basic criteria you required to be eligible for the exam are mentioned below : - Your age should lie in between 21-30 years. There is also a relaxation in upper age of 3 years for OBC candidates and of 5 years for SC/ST candidates. - You must have completed your graduation from any recognized college / university. - The minimum height required is 165 cms for males and 150 cms for females. There is also a relaxation in height of 5 cms for candidates from SC/ST/OBC candidates. This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. You need to be 160 cm height if male and for female it is 150cm. But height alone can not guarantee you the IPS service. You need to meet the required criteria of all physical fitness like vision,hearing etc. I mentioned some details below, please have a look:: Eye sight - 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Near vision J 1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye. The correction is by lenses only. High standard for the Colour-blind test. No inherent night blindness. Vision should stereoscopic. Height: 165cm Chest girth fully expanded: 84cm (Expansion: 5cm) Eye Vision: High Grade Colour Vision. Binocular Vision. Refractive Error Permitted- Total Amount of Hypermetropia(including cylinder) shall not exceed plus 4.00D Total Amount of Myopia(including cylinder) shall not exceed minus 4.00D. However, if its a non-pathological case of myopia, it can be relaxed. Spectacles allowed but no mention of lasik. Therefore, lasik is not allowed. All The Best Vega Sridhar |

Indian Police Service Examination this civil service exam is conducted by UPSC every years, educational requirement- graduation degree in any stream from a recognized college. The age limit- 21-30 yaers for a general candidate 21-33 for OBC candidate 21-35 for SC\ST candidate. Physical requirements- height-for males 165 cm ,and for females 150 cm (5 cm relaation for st\obc candidate) Chest-184 for males & 179 for females with the expansion of 5 cm. eye-sight- 6\6. thanks!! |
