No, it is not compulsory. The academic qualification required to apply for Agriculture Engineering is that candidate must have studied science stream in 12th with either PCM subject group or PCB group. It means that candidate from both groups are eligible.

You can apply for All Indian Entrance Examination for Admission in Agriculture engineering. AIEEA is conducted by Indian Council of Agriculture Research. You should have at least 50% marks in board examination to apply for Agriculture engineering.

Re: What is the minimum eligibility criteria followed for Agricultural Engineering?

As far as you are concerned about the minimum eligibility for pursuing Agricultural Engineering then it is a higher secondary school degree with Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics as main subjects with at least 50% marks from a recognized board of education.

So it is evident from the above fact that there is no compulsion of Biology as a main subject for pursuing Agricultural engineering.

Further for pursuing Agricultural engineering from good colleges you need to qualify entrance examinations like AIEEA UG held by ICAR or State CETs held by concerned board of education.

B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering is an under course in agricultural studies and processes. The minimum eligibility for this course is passing 10+2 level of examination from recognized board in Biology, Maths and Chemistry.

So, yes you heard it correct Biology is one of the compulsory subject for doing Agricultural Engineering.
