The first stage comprises of two objective examsne of general studies and the other conducted on a subject of candidate choice from a given list of subjects.

The second stage consists of nine papers out of which two are qualifying in nature. One has to choose two optional subjects of one's choice as compared to the one in preliminary stage. There are two papers of general studies,opt1 and opt 2 and one essay paper.

The last stage comprise of interview and the candidate is allowed to choose their preference of services which comprises of :

since you prefer for IRS,if your selected then you should undergo three month's of training at Lal bahudur National Academy of Administration followed by training at NACEN Faridabad.

Re: Details about the IRS exam?

there is no seperate exam for IRS.you should write upsc examination and according to your rank and your option in tje application form that you mention, you will get IRS service
in IRS there are two services. they are 1.IRS(income tax) 2.IRS(customs&central excise).
according to your interest in the service you should fill in the application form.
