No, IIT Madras doesn't offer lateral entry admission in Diploma course. Only candidates who have passed 12th standard or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects from a Government recognised board are eligible to get admission for pursuing Engineering course in IIT Madras. So, being a Diploma holder in Mechanical Engineering, you are not eligible to get lateral entry admission in IIT Madras.

No, you are not eligible to appear for entrance examination to get admission in B.Tech course in IIT through lateral entry.

Diploma candidates are eligible to appear for JEE and after qualifying for both stages will become eligible to get admission in the 1st year of the course.

So, if you want to get admission then prepare for JEE. For detail information about examination visit at http://www.jeemain.nic.in

No, Indian Institute of Technology Madras does not accept allow candidates for admission in second year of engineering course directly.

Diploma candidates are eligible for Joint Entrance exam for admission in IITs. You need to clear this exam, JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

1. There is no scheme of lateral entry in India Institute of Technology. Diploma candidates are eligible for admission in Indian Institute of Technology but not for directly in second year of engineering.

2. You can apply for Joint Entrance Examination conducted by CBSE for admission in IITs. There are two stages of this exam, JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

You can apply for LEET, if you want admission in second year.

Whether IIT Madras accepts Diploma degree for lateral entry admission in their program or not?

I have completed my Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Rajagopal Polytechnic college affiliated by DOTE. Now I need admission in IIT, Madras for Petroleum Engineering directly in 2nd year. So there is a scope for diploma holders or not?
