For doing poytechnic just completing 10th standard is sufficient. There is no percentage criteria.

There are more than 30 courses available in poytechnic for joining after 10 class.
but most of them prefer the below listed courses:

1.Computer Engineering
2.Automobile Engineering
3.Chemical Engineering
4.Civil Engineering
5.Computer Science and Engineering
6.Electronics and Communication Engineering
7.Electrical and Electronics Engineering
8.Information Technology
9.Mechanical Engineering
10.Mechanical Engineering (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning)
11.Mechanical Engineering (Tool and Die)
12.Production and Industrial Engineering etc. were some of them.

All these courses will be of 3 years duration then after completing any one of the above mentioned courses then directly you can enter into any engineering college in the 2nd year as a lateral entry by writing an entrance examination.

In terms of job i suggest you to opt for either CSE or ECE so that you can crack a software job very easily after completing you engineering or else in the college placement's itself.
