Re: Is it compulsory to study Sanskrit for getting admission to BAMS? No it is not compulsory to study Sanskrit subject in 11th and 12th to get admission in BAMS course. Sanskrit is a separate subject in this BAMS course. Your 12th should be completed with medical stream from recognised board. You have to qualify the entrance exam to get admission in this 5 year degree course in good Medical College. Age limit should be in between 17 to 25 years and relaxation in upper age limit is given to reserved category. |

Re: Is it compulsory to study Sanskrit for getting admission to BAMS? Yes, it is necessary to study Sanskrit at 10+2 level for admission to BAMS. Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery is the expanded form for BAMS. BAMS is an undergraduate degree that deals with the study of integrated system of modern medicine and traditional Ayurveda. It takes a time duration of 5½ years to complete the course of which 4½ years is for the main course and 1 year for internship. The main course is divided into 3 Professional Courses of 1½ years duration each. The eligibility criteria for pursuing a B.A.M.S. degree are as under:- -The candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board of education. -The candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Sanskrit as subjects at 10+2 level. -The candidate minimum age to apply for BAMS should not be less than 17 years . |
