Requirement for Merchant navy: A candidate must pass in B.Sc,B.Tech,B.A ,etc. it is not necessary that a candidate must passed in all these degree but a candidate must passed in one of these degree & the age of candidate must be 21 to 30 years. |

Hello friend, The two major departments of Merchant Navy are the Navigation department and the Engineering department and for both, you must belong to the science stream. But Since, you are from commerce background, you do have another option to join merchant navy and its the administrative department. Like every other industry, Merchant navy also needs to maintain the administration on board. If you have fair knowledge of accountancy and computer, you can join Merchant Navy as Purser/Ship clerk.A Purser is responsible for general administration and all money-related needs on board. |

Re: How to join Merchant Navy after completing B.Com? This profession required the candidate to be away from land for major part of the year. This stream is basically for those from the science stream. They need to have studied Maths, Physics and Chemistry. So a candidate from commerce stream cannot apply for the same. You need to lookout for other options. |
