It includes three types of fleets, namely cargo carriers, passenger liners and oil tankers as well as other special type of vehicles. The duties of a merchant navy officers are centered around three areas- the deck, the engine room and the service department. Re: How can i join merchant navy? Hello friend, The two major departments in merchant navy are Navigation and Engineering department. To join the navigation department candidate must have passed +2 with physics, chemestry and maths. Such candidate may join as deck cadet. To join the engeenering department one must be a marine enginieer. Apart from marine engineer candidates holding a degree in engineering in mechanical, elecrical or technology may join as fifth or junior engineer. Candidates who have done only matriculation can join saloon department. All departments other than navigation, engineering and administrative comes under saloon department. So to make a great career in merchant navy you must complete your +2 with PCM and further go for bachelors degree either in marine engineering or nautical science. |
