Yes, you need to have B.Ed course to appear for CTET examination.

CTET is Central Teacher Eligibility Test. The examination is conducted by CBSE. It is conducted for recruitment as teacher in central government schools.

The candidates interested in recruitment in private schools are also need to have B.Ed degree for recruitment.

Re: Whether having B.Ed is compulsory for PhD degree holder in order to teach in schools?

As far as you are concerned about the compulsion of B.Ed i.e; Bachelor of Education degree for being a school teacher then by far it is compulsory if you are interested in becoming teacher of Classes above 5 or D.Ed i.e; Diploma in elementary education degree for classes under 5 irrespective of your academic qualification.

So being Phd degree holder without B.Ed degree holder you are not eligible for becoming a school teacher but in case you are interested to be a lecturer in colleges approved by UGC then you can apply for NET i.e; National Eligibility Test held by CBSE but for the same you must have secured 55% marks in your master degree course. Relaxation of 5% is allowed for reserved category candidates.

I am PhD holder in science stream. Still private schools demand B.Ed. to be compulsory. Is there any rule which I can show them that PhD holders don't require B.Ed degree?
