The first thing I would like to let you know that the minimum education required to apply for appearing in the UPSC Civil Services examination is a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Students are also allowed to appear in the same examination while pursuing final year of their graduation degree course. As far as you are concerned about you eligibility for appearing in the same examination having failed to clear your Mathematics paper in Class 12th, then I would like to let you know that you are eligible only if your board of education has declared Passed/Promoted even having failed in your Mathematics paper and you have pursued your graduation degree course from a recognised university. Re: Is is compulsory to qualify in Mathematics in order to get to IAS/IPS? The minimum academic qualification required for the candidates to become IAS or IPS officer is Graduation. Since you did not complete Graduation and failed in Mathematics in 10+2, you are not eligible now to get into Civil Services. Hence I suggest you to give Supplementary exam for Mathematics subject in 10+2 and complete it first. It won't be a problem of clearing the Mathematics in Supplementary, if you complete Graduation, then you are eligible to apply for civil services. Since there is huge competition for Civil services, you can take coaching for this exam from the 2nd year of Graduation. |

For IAS and IPS the minimum eligiblity is to complete your graduation from any recognized university.First you must clear the Mathematics 10+2 by reappearing for the exam and then you also need to do your graduation meanwhile you can prepare for IAS or IPS. |

There is no limitation on discipline of bachelor degree or intermediate to become eligible to appear in the examination. Examination is conducted in three stages for final selection. Is is compulsory to qualify in Mathematics in order to get to IAS/IPS? Can I become IAS/IPS after clearing UPSC/CSE exam if I was failed in Mathematics in 12th class and even not given supplementary? Will it create any problem even after clearing the exam? |
