Re: Am I eligible for Merchant Navy post if one of my eye vision is 1/6 after spectacles? my right was injured in 2015 now it's vision is very blur can i do something so that my vision of that eye will get better so i can join navy? my left is perfectly fine please suggest me something for my right eye |

You need to possess certain educational qualification for applying for merchant navy. The minimum educational qualification needed is candidate should have completed B.sc nautical science or B.E in Nautical science or Marine Engineering. Eye Standards for Merchant Navy: Deck: Basic Visual Acuity Standard (unaided): Better eye - 6/60. Other eye - 6/60. Higher Visual Acuity Standard (aided if necessary): Better eye - 6/6. Other eye - 6/12. Near Vision: N8. Colour Vision: Ishihara or Lantern 2 miles. Visual Field: No pathological field defect. Engineer/Radio: Basic Visual Acuity Standard (unaided): 6/60. Higher Visual Acuity Standard (aided if necessary): Better eye - 6/18. Other eye - 6/18. Near Vision: N8. Colour Vision: Ishihara or Farnsworth D15 or City University. Visual Field: Sufficient to undertake duties efficiently. |

Eye sight requirement to join Merchant Navy:- Eye sight (without visual aids) :6/6 vision in both eyes ; no color-blindness for Nautical Officer’s and for Engineering Officers Eye sight (with visual aids) : 6/12 in each eye or 6/9 in the better eye and 6/18 in the other eye. Eye Sight : Unaided distant vision 6/12, 6/18. |

Am I eligible for Merchant Navy post if one of my eye vision is 1/6 after spectacles? If my one eye vision is 6/6 and another is 1/6 after spectacles can I joint merchant Navy at any post? What is the minimum criteria they will look for the admission? Can someone please provide me the complete information on the same? |
