Friend, There is a lot of difference between Merchant and Indian Navy and the basic difference between indian navy and merchant navy is that merchant navy is for Transporting goods and products from one country to another country but the Indian navy is for the protecting our country from domestic and international threats and attacks. In merchant navy you will earn a lot of money but in the Indian navy there is honor and respect for you and plus income is also good. GOOD LUCK. |

Re: Eligibilty for merchant navy after 12th Commerce and doing BBA? In Merchant navy field you have two streams: Marine Nautical Eligibility: Both unmarried male and female candidates are eligible. You should not be more than 20 years. If you are SC/ST you have a relaxation of age by 5 years. Qualifications: You should be a 12th pass or equivalent from a recognized board. Subjects should be mathematics and physics. |

The minimum eligibility for the marine engineering is 10+2 with physics, chemistry and mathematics. all the best. |

If a candidate has passed with these subjects, he can pursue degree course in Nautical Science as well as marine Engineering. The direct entry as deck cadet in merchant navy also demands the same academic qualification. So, I dont think there is any scope for a commerce student and if you want to join Merchant Navy, you need to have Physics, Chemistry And Maths as the main stream subjects in your +2. |

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS Candidates need to show proof of completing 10+2 system or equivalent, having passed Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics as elective subjects. So you are not eligible for this. |

Need to have basic level knowledge on maths and science to pursue a career in merchant navy. After a commerce stream, it is always better to go for further studies in commerce or try for a management career doing BBA and MBA |
