Re: Allowed attempts for ies for general student? No limit on number of attempts in IES. Only age limit is there. For General Category: Minimum 21 years and Maximum 30 years on 1st January of the year in which exam is to be conducted. There's no limits on attempts in IES. |

Re: Allowed attempts for ies for general student? Hi dear..  UPSC conducts IES exams for entry into Civil Services. The maximum no. of attempts for OP category Students is restricted to 4. However, there is relaxation for Reserved Categories as Mentioned below :- > SC/ST - there is no limit > OBC - 7 times. All the best..!! Regards Sammy |

Various Dept. The allowed attempts for IES are as follows:- -General Category Candidate - Four attempts -OBC Category candidate - Seven Attempts -SC/ST Category candidate - No such restriction The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having completed B.Tech. You all r saying that number of attempts for IES candidate as general has 4 attempts.......but i want that you plz go through the upsc site thats upsc.gov.in ,here they mentioned that there are no restricted attempts for in ies...so sir, its a humble request to you please go through that site and guide us carefully |

Re: Allowed attempts for ies for general student? Dear friend, Indian Engineering Service is one of the toughest exam to qualify. There are several rules regarding the exam. The allowed attempts for I.E.S. for different category of students are mentioned below:- 1. For General Candidate- a maximum of 4 attempts i.e. up to 33 years. 2. For OBC Candidate- a maximum of 7 attempts i.e. up to 36 years. 3. For SC/ST Candidate- a maximum of 10 attempts i.e. up to 39 years. ______________________THANK YOU___________________________ |

Re: Allowed attempts for ies for general student? both are completely different exams,you need to prepare foe general ability exam also for ies along with regular civil engineering exam. Being a general candidate your age must lie in between 21 - 27 years, then only you would be allowed to sit in the entrance paper, otherwise your application will be discarded. |

Hi dear ., there are 4 attempts permitted in the general category.....for ies exam ..... for gate exam...there is no limit to which you can attempt GATE exam, you can attempt it as many times as you like.....however, the from now on, GATE results will be valid for only 1 year. best of luck.. The exam is conducted for recruiting the enginners under the following core fields. Civil engineering, Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering Electronics and telecommunication. The eligibility for the exam is bachelor degree in the field of engineering.MSc graduates with degree in radio physics,electronics,wireless communication are also eligible. The aspirant of general will be permitted to appear for the exam upto a age of 30.the relaxation is as per government norms. The number of attempts for the various category are general-4 attempts, OBC -7attempts SC/ST- no limit in no of attempts |

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION- A candidates must have engineering degree in any ne of these streams that I have listed below- 1. MECHANICAL ENGINEERING 2. CIVIL ENGINEERING 3. Here is something directly from UPSC website (www.upsc.gov.in FAQ Section- 1st Question) 1. What is the restriction on number of attempts in Commission%uFFFDs Examinations? Number of attempts :- Civil Service Examination - General-4, OBC-7, SC/ST- No restriction IFS Examination- General-4, OBC-7, SC/ST-No restriction There is no restriction on number of attempts in any other Examination conducted by the Commission. "This implies no restriction in number of attempts only the age limit is applicable(30 in case of General applicants) |

Re: Allowed attempts for ies for general student? Well friends, IES is Combined Competitive Examination for recruitment to the Services/posts will be held by the Union Public Service Commission. IES Exam can be attempted depending upon the categories. as only 4 attempts are allowed for General Category but for OBC its 7 and For SC/ST there is no limit, but still 9 attempts are permissible. If your a candidate from OBC Category then you can attempt 7 times for the exam. If your a candidate from SC/ST Category then you can attempt 9 times for the exam. |
