Re: How to start preparation for GATE Exam?

see GATE is an exam where your fundamental technical knowledge is tested. So i would suggest you that get into the details of every concept being taught. try and solve as many problems as you can.
Try to solve previous year question papers, model test papers and any standard book for reference and guidance.
you can also take classes at institutions like The Gate Academy, etc.
plus incorporate a habit of solving a question paper in a particular time span.
set your stop watch to a particular time and try and finish your problems within the stipulated time.

Re: How to start preparation for GATE Exam?

Dear Candidate,
Preparing for GATE exam, first you must clear the concept regard to your subjects. If you have any problem regard your subject's topic then clear this problem taking help of your sir or professor. start preparing for GATE when you enter in 2nd year because most of the syllabus are taken from your 2nd and 3rd year subjects.
Start preparation with your friends and do group discussion on any particular topic which is related to your subject. Share your technical knowledge to your friends and try to solve as many as possible short question regrading your subject and solve the previous question papers also which is very useful to get the confidence in GATE exam.

Best of luck for your GATE exam!

Hi!

The GATE is an exam that tests you on your fundamentals. The questions are generally derivations of the fundamentals. Preparation for GATE is an ongoing process, and is supposed to happen in stages. First get your fundamentals right, and then test yourself on those fundamentals.

For this first you need to have an idea of the syllabus of the GATE exam.

Then you collect all the relevant books based on the subject which can be
  • Fundamental and basic concepts based &
  • Problem oriented
  • Some books which are helpful for pre-requisite knowledge on the subject
  • Some good guide books for GATE
  • Previous questions papers
Then prepare well in the following ways:
  • Note down the probable concepts(definitions, unit, dimension etc.)
  • Note down necessary theories, formulae etc
  • Solve problems as maximum as possible(from text books, Guide books etc)
  • Think about various tricks in solving problems(if necessary, note it)
  • Go for series of self tests based on this chapter(take other's help to conduct tests)
  • Continue the self tests until getting a very good score.
If you feel that you need an assistance from some coaching centre then you get yourself enrolled in a reputed one.

Take help from a GATE expert and study well.

By doing all these I think you can definitely crack the exam with a good score.

ALL The BEST.....

How to prepare for GATE

Before the marathon begins, the ‘runner’ puts in months, even years, of effort before he actually runs the race. As the saying goes – get your fundamentals right.

GATE is an exam that tests you on your fundamentals. The questions are generally derivations of the fundamentals. Preparation for GATE is an ongoing process, and is supposed to happen in stages. First get your fundamentals right, and then test yourself on those fundamentals. When you have done this, you should pit yourself with the competition, which means a mock test which would give you a percentile to let you know where you stand amongst competitors. How do you choose which coaching material to go with. This is something that is quite subjective. A coaching material cannot be assessed until you have gone through it. So, you could go by the word of your seniors as to what coaching material they followed to prepare for GATE. Here are some parameters on which you can decide whether you should go for a particular coaching institute, use a particular coaching material, or tests:

1.Material Collection

Syllabus : All the relevant books based on the subject(Divide the books in two groups - (1)
Fundamental and basic concepts (2) Problem oriented
Some books helpful for pre-requisite knowledge on the subject
Some good guide books for GATE
Previous questions papers

2.Keep contact with some expert and GATE experienced persons

3.Study - Syllabus and Previous questions papers

4.Start from the first chapter

read at least 5 books, it will widen your knowledge(if necessary consult with the books for pre-requisite knowledge or with some expert)
Note down the probable concepts(definitions, unit, dimension etc.)
Note down necessary theories, formulae etc
Solve problems as maximum as possible(from text books, Guide books etc)
Think about various tricks in solving problems(if necessary, note it)
Go for series of self tests based on this chapter(take other's help to conduct tests)
Continue the self tests until getting a very good score

5.Solve more and more problems, discover more and more new tricks…

6.Follow the same procedure for the rest chapters

7.Finally, go for self tests based on whole syllabus(take other's help to conduct these tests)

8.Well, So...... on the exam day…you will be at your best, who can stop you?

Re: How to start preparation for GATE Exam?

Hi,

GATE is very good exam for those student who want to do M.Tech.By GATE exam you can get chance of M.Tech from IIT college if you get good marks in entrance exam.

GATE exam is not a simple exam.for success you have to study with a plane.you have study 7-8 hours per day with concentration.

You should choose best book and prepare this.Threr are various topic In GATE exam syllabus.

You should choose sufficient topic which are intrested for you and you know about those topic. You should study those topic very deeply.you have complete knowledge about that topic.

You don't try to complete study of complete cours you should try to complete those topic which are well known for you and they are sufficient for good marks.

With these you should study your course book because maximum question are asked from your cours book.

With these you can get good marks.

Re: How to start preparation for GATE Exam?

The main thing which one should do if he/she preparing for any kind of exam is that they should know the pattern of the examination and the books best for the different topics.Only then one could get a success in the exam.

Other then this practice makes the man perfect so its better if you solve previous years papers of the examination .It will help you to increase you speed to solve the question and it will also help you to get know the how marks are divided

Study at least 5 to 10 hours a day.

Its always better if you plan your revision schedule as early as possible and follow the same honestly and keep reviewing it and make necessary changes if you feels its necessary.

If you have a doubt ask! Never leave a doubt unresolved

When exams are approaching, do not add any new topic in your schedule. Just focus on revision only.
