Civil Services Aptitude Test - Books

Hello Gspandhare
CSAT stands for Civil Services Aptitude Test conducted by UPSC to select candidates Civil Services Mains. Clearing the Mains, One can get into IAS,IPS, etc.
The CSAT 2013 is scheduled to be held on May 19th, 2013 and the Application process starts from February.

Eligibility Criteria:
► Age Limit: 30 years for General, 35 for SC/ST and 40 years for PH students.
► Minimum Educational Qualifications a Candidate must have is a Degree in any Discipline from any Recognized University.
► No of Attempts for General Category is 4, and 7 for both OBC & Physically Handicapped (PH) Candidates. No age Limit for SC/ST Candidates.
Some Tit-Bits on CSAT:
► CSAT has 2 papers: Paper I (Which is a little Tough consisting of General Studies & Current Affairs) and Paper II(Consisting of General Aptitude Which is Relatively Easier).
► A Combined Score of 50% in Both Papers must place a General Category student fairly in the Mains.
► For a Typical Graduate, It takes about 400 hours of Intense Preparation to Qualify for Mains.
► One is Expected to prepare simultaneously for Mains rather to start it after the Prelims Results are out!

Hai,

CSAT-Civil Services Admission Test.


Eligibility Criteria for CSAT:-

The candidate should be complete graduation from a recognised university.

Final year graduation candidates are also eligible.

Percentage is not important to apply this exam.

You must be an Indian origin.


Age criteria:-

The candidates age should be in between 21 years to 30 years,

3 years age relaxation for OBC candidates,

5 years age relaxation for SC/ST candidates.


Selection process:-

Civil Services Preliminary exam,

Civil Services Mains exam,

Personal Interview.

IAS Syllabus

NCERT Class IX and X. Supplement with information from TMH GS Manual that covers entire Science syllabus thoroughly.

Polity Books for IAS Prelims

Our Constitution by Subhash Kashyap for simple easy-to-understand polity concepts. Also very useful for Mains. Supplement with Constitution of India by P.M Bakshi for bare articles and latest amendments.

Books for History

NCERT books on Ancient, Medieval and Modern India. Bipin Chandra’s India’s Struggle for Independence is a must for events from 1857 till 1947. Also useful for IAS Mains. Also contains information on Social and Religious reforms of 19th century.

Prelims Geography Books
