Let me start with the last question related to the overall price of the course. Commercial Pilot course is one of the most expensive courses in the country. If you want to become pilot then be prepared to spend around Rs 20 Lakhs for the course.

This is not the money that everyone can afford therefore you need to think hard before applying for the course. Please ensure whether you can afford this type of money of not.

Although I must point out that the course is worth it. The salary of pilots in commercial airlines are quite handsome. You will make up for all the money spent on education in few years time.

Eligibility

1. You should have completed 12th standard.

2. Subjects should be Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

3. Minimum of 50 percent marks in 12th.

4. Minimum age to apply is 18 years.

5. Upper age limit is 30 years.

Physical Requirements

1. You should not have fear of heights.

2. The vision should be 6/6 for pilot course.

3. Vision is correctable via eyeglasses but contact lenses are not allowed.

4. Your height should be minimum of 5 feet.

Complete Procedure

Student’s Pilot Licence - To become the commercial pilot, you will first have to obtain the Student’s Pilot Licence. You can apply for this licence after finishing 10th standard. There is no flying involved here. You simply have to appear for basic Mathematics test related to various aspects of aircraft. You will have to clear the test with 75% marks to get the Student's Licence.

Private Pilot Licence - After getting Student's licence you will have to wait till completing 12th standard with marks as mentioned above. After which you will apply for the Private Pilot Licence. Now you will get the flying lessons. You will have to gain flying experience of 40 hours under the supervision of instructor and 20 hours of solo flying. Once you are done with flying experience, there will be a written test to clear and get the licence.

Commercial Pilot Licence - This is the last and most expensive stage. You must get 250 hours of solo flying experience here. This is followed by series of written tests on Air Regulations, Aviation Meteorology, Air Navigation. In the end a team of doctors by Director General Civil Aviation will conduct your medical test. If they give green signal you will get the Commercial Pilot licence after which you can apply for the job in commercial airlines.
