BHEL or the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited is one of the Public Sector Undertakings in India which was established in 1953. BHEL is one of the leading PSUs in India that has consistently been making profits for last three decades.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited is a power plant equipment manufacturing company. Around 74 percent of power generation in India is produced by equipments manufactured by BHEL. In 2011, the reputed magazine, Forbes, included BHEL on the 9th spot for its list of most innovation company. BHEL was the only engineering company from India to feature in the list. It is considered as one of the leading manufacturing companies in India. BHEL design, construct, test, manufacture wide range of products for sectors like:

Power

Transmission, Industry

Transportation

Renewable Energy

Oil & Gas

Defence

Just like all the other Public Sector Undertakings in India, BHEL too hires candidates on the basis of entrance exam. Earlier BHEL used to conduct a written test but has moved to the GATE exam. Now instead of appearing in entrance exam, candidates are required to perform well in the General Aptitude Test for Engineering which is also done for admission in M.Tech.

Eligibility

To be eligible for job in BHEL, candidate must meet these requirements:

1. A B.Tech degree in the following streams:

Civil

Mechanical

Electricals

Electronics

2. At least 60 percent marks in B.Tech course.

3. There should not be any pending backlogs on the time of applying.

4. Age limit for entrance exam is 30 years.

5. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC candidate

6. The candidates of SC/ST community would get 5 years relaxation in upper age limit.

Selection Process

1) Written Test (GATE)

2) Interview

Please remember that to appear for GATE entrance exam you should either have completed B.Tech or must be final year student. The percentage secured in B.Tech are not relevant when applying for GATE exam. A GATE score is only valid for 2 years after which you will have to appear again.
