i have completed my 2year diploma in civil engineering with70%marks.
am i eligible for btech lateral entry in kerala

I have completed my 10 2 and 3 year Diploma in electronics engineering from state board kerala.I am working in Bangalore.Now I am interested to complete my graduation.which are the best options for me both distance mode /and evening or weekend courses.

You can take admission in B.Tech through lateral entry. The marks you have mentioned in diploma are sufficient enough. The lateral entry admission is given to diploma holders.

It allows you to take directly admission in the second year of Bachelor of Technology course. There is no need to do first year of B.Tech if applied through lateral entry.

Most colleges offer lateral entry in India, including the technical universities in Kerala as well. However this list does not include Indian Institutes of Technology and National Institutes of Technology.

But remaining of the universities will offer you admission. As a matter of fact, majority of universities in India reserve some seats for the lateral entry students. You can apply for these seats through a competitive entrance exam.

In the case of diploma holders seeking lateral entry, the following entrance exams are irrelevant.

AIEEE

ISEET

IIT-JEE

UPSEE

BITSAT


These exams are not for lateral entry. You will have to appear for the Lateral Entry Engineering Test (LEET). The minimum requirement to appear for this test is 60 percent marks in diploma.

Since you have 70 percent you are eligible for this entrance exam. You should appear for LEET exam for Kerala and clear it. There are however other entrance exams as well.

You can also get direct admission in the second year without having to appear for entrance exam. There are colleges that even offer direct admission on merit.
