Churachandpur is a city in the Indian state of Manipur and the city is locally called as Lamka. The city is acting as the headquarters of the Churachandpur District of the state of Manipur. The term Lamka in the local language denotes the meaning of ‘a place located at the road junction’, because of its commercial origins, the city is being called by this name. it is a cosmopolitan and multi-ethnic hill town in the state.

During the World War II, the city was affected by the bombing from Japan, however, the city has been enjoying a peaceful and quiet progress for five decades during the past-war period.
