Guntur District is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh and the district has a coastline of 100 kilometers. The district has its administrative centre as the city of Guntur and it is also the largest city in the district. The district serves as an important center for education in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Guntur city is one of the first cities to offer graduation and higher education programs in India since the city has the famous Acharya Nagarjuna University which has jurisdiction over three districts of the state of Andhra Pradesh. Medical College:

Guntur Medical College came into existence in the year 1946 and the college was initially offering medical education with affiliation from the Andhra University, later it was shifted under the jurisdiction of Acharya Nagarjuna University. Presently, the college offers medical education with affiliation from the N.T.R. University of Health Sciences with an approved intake capacity of 150 students per year for the MBBS course. Admission of students is done based on the entrance examination conducted by the NTR University of Health Sciences.

Arts, Science & Commerce College:

Government College for Women, Guntur came into existence in the year 1944 and the college offers arts, science and commerce courses with affiliation from the Acharya Nagarjuna University, which is also located in Guntur. Some of the courses offered by the college are:
