Malappuram District Panchayat is a revenue district in the state of Kerala and the district has the city of Malappuram as its headquarters. The district came into existence in the year 1969 on the 16th of June and it is the home for a number of wildlife collection, paddy, backwaters, streams flowing to the west and little rivers, forests and small hills.

The district is the home for the University of Calicut, which is located in the city of Thenjipalam.
