Saiha District is one among the eight district in the state of Mizoram and the district is bounded on east and south by Myanmar, west by the Lawngtlai District, northwest and north by Lunglei District. The district is spread over an area of 1399.9 km2 and it has its headquarters as the town of Saiha. The district was formerly part of the Chhimtuipui District, which was split into half in the year 1998.

The town of Saiha, which the administrative headquarters of the district is the third largest town in the state of Mizoram after Aizawl and Lunglei. The other important towns in the district are Bualpui, Phura, Sangau and Tuipang. Saiha District is located at a distance of about 378 kms from the state capital Aizawl.
