The Indian Army absorbs, trains and recruits citizens of India for different posts both in the rank of officers and in other ranks as well. Candidates can also find job opportunities in Indian Military Academy as well.

How to get qualified for jobs in Military Sector?

The Indian Army does two types of recruitments and they are:

Short Service Commission (for a tenure of five years)

Recruitment on Permanent Commission (job till retirement)

To be recruited on permanent basis, candidates will have to qualify the tests conducted by the Indian Military Academy or the National Defence Academy. In case a candidate joins the Indian Army under short service commission, he is given an option to continue as permanent commission staff if he wishes to continue his service.

Candidates can also enter Indian Army through Indian Military Academy, for which candidates have the following options of entry:

Direct Entry

Technical Entry Scheme

University Entry Scheme

Engineering Graduate Entry Scheme

Details regarding entry through these four categories are given below:

Direct Entry:

For direct entry, any candidate with a graduation under any stream of education falling between the age group of 19 and 24 years become eligible to appear for the Combined Defence Service Examination. On successful completion of this examination, candidates will be called for SSB interview, which is conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

Technical Entry Scheme:

Under this scheme, candidates who have completed their 10+2 with physics, chemistry and mathematics falling between the age group of 16.5 and 19.5 years of age are eligible. Candidates fulfilling these eligibility criteria can apply directly to the Directorate of Recruitment through [email protected]

University Entry Scheme:

Under University Entry Scheme, candidates should be doing their engineering course and they should be in their final year of pre-final year of this degree course should, they should qualify through campus interview and SSB interview.

Engineering Graduate Entry Scheme:

Candidates who have completed their graduation in Engineering under any branch can apply directly to the Additional Directorate General of Recruiting at New Delhi to the address mentioned below for direct SSB interview:

Education qualification and age requirement to enter into military sector:

For the examination conducted by National Defence Academy for recruitment of candidates to Indian Army, candidates must have completed their higher secondary examination under 10+2 scheme of education or any other equivalent examination. In addition, candidates should be between the age group of 16.5 and 19 years for taking up this examination, which is followed by SSB Interview.

Normally for entering into the Indian Arms, interested candidates are called for during the months of March or April and during the months of October or November, which means two times a year by the Union Public Service Commission.
