Teerthanker Mahaveer University was formed by the Teerthankar Mahaveer University Act of 2008 with a mandate to disseminate and create knowledge in areas of higher education, as a teaching university. The university aims at developing critical skills and imparting knowledge essential to succeed both in personal and professional life by promoting learning supported by collaborative research and teaching, curriculum, technology, infrastructure and world-class faculty with top-rated institutions in India and abroad.

The Teerthanker Mahaveer University is empowered by the University Grants Commission to offer degrees under sec.22 of the UGC Act 1956. The campus of the university, which is highly suitable for interactive learning, is spread over a construction area of 28 lakh square feet and the total area of 115 acres of land houses different college of studies providing research programs, post-graduate, undergraduate and diverse professional courses.

The campus has been constructed in such a way that broader issues pertaining to energy and resource conservation are addressed. Concepts like use of solar energy, plantations, green parks and pathways, development of water bodies, sewage treatment and rainwater harvesting are extensively applied in the campus building.
