All India MCA Common Entrance Test (AIMCET), National Institute of Technology MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET) and Punjab Admission to MCA Common Aptitude Test (PAM CAT) are the most popular entrance tests conducted for MCA admission. Most of these entrance tests include General English, Computer Awareness, Mathematics, Analytical Ability and Logical reasoning sections having only multiple choice questions. Negative marking will be there for both AIMCET and NIMCET.

Exam Pattern of various MCA Entrance Exams

All India MCA Common Entrance Test (AIMCET) - Only objective type questions will be asked in this All India Level entrance test conducted for the admission to MCA programmes offered in reputed institutes like IIT. There will be 100 questions from Mathematics and 40 questions from Computer Awareness. Analytical ability and Logical reasoning is the next section which include total 40 questions. General Awareness is the last section which comprises of only 20 questions. If the candidates give wrong answer for a question, then 1/3 marks will be deducted from the total marks assigned for that question.

National Institute of Technology MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET) - Total 120 objective type questions will be unevenly distributed among four sections such as Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning, Mathematics, Computer Awareness and General English. Mathematics section includes 40 questions while Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning section includes 55 questions. Computer Awareness and General English sections include total 10 and 15 questions respectively. Each right answer will fetch 4 marks for the candidates and one mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Punjab Admission to MCA Common Aptitude Test (PAM CAT) - First part of this entrance test includes three subjects that is Mental and Numerical Ability, General Knowledge and General English. Total 50 multiple choice questions will be asked in the first part. In the second part, candidates can make a choice between Mathematics and Computer Science. This part also include total 50 multiple choice questions.

Other popular entrance tests like Maharashtra MCA Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET), West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam MCA (JECA MCA), Banaras Hindu University MCA Entrance Exam, Pune University MCA Entrance Exam etc. also include Computer Awareness, Mathematics, General English, Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning.
