The National Dairy Research Institute was established in 1923. Initially, it was named Imperial Institute of Animal Husbandry and Dairying. It was renamed in 1936 as Imperial Dairy Institute and finally as National Diary Research Institute. The institute offers Ph.D courses in 12 different streams.  The institute carries out entrance exam for selecting eligible students to the Ph.D programme in Animal Biotechnology.

Structure of National Dairy Research Institute Ph.D Entrance Exam

The Ph.D entrance exam includes only one paper. The duration is 120 minutes for the entrance test. The exam pattern includes three types of questions – objective, short-answer, and true/false. To get qualified in the entrance test, one should score at least 100 marks.

The students should complete any of the following courses to apply for the Ph.D in Animal Biotechnology entrance exam.

The students from general category should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in the qualifying exam. The SC/ST students must have got at least 55% marks in their Master’s degree.

How to Apply?

The students who wish to join Ph.D in Animal Biotechnology can purchase the information brochure and the application form through post. For this, they have to post a request letter to “The Registrar, National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal-132001 (Haryana).” The students can also procure the application form from the sale counter of the institute. The application for the exam costs Rs.1200/-. The students should do the payment through demand draft. Then send the DD accompanied with the completed application to the above mentioned address. The DD should be taken in favor of “The “ICAR UNIT, NDRI, KARNAL.”

How to fill the Form?

• Go through the information booklet in detail
• Fill all the boxes with accurate information
• Write the date of birth and name as per the original certificate
• Do not leave any box empty
• Enter the full address with Pin Code
• Check whether any signatures are missed while filling the form
• The applications without the applicant’s signature will be rejected
• Attach the DD and relevant documents along with the form
