NITC or famously known as the National Institute of Technology, Calicut is a government funded institution situated at about a distance of 22kms from Calicut( Kozhikode). As per its name, the institute was previously known as CREC or Calicut Regional Engineering College. This college in one of the fleet of 20 NITs that exist in the country established in major states individually. The institute was set up 1961 and till 1963 the institute was affiliated to Kerala University but it soon changed its affiliation to Calicut University in the year 1963.

The courses offered by the institute are centrally as per the NIT but have e also some recent additions:

B. Tech in the trades of Civil, Mechanical, chemical, computer science, biotechnology, electronics and communication, electrical and electronics and engineering physics.

Being a government funded institution; it boasts wide facilities and that too at the elite level. The major eye catching facilities include:

IT finishing school: this is a school developed here and at other 7 centers in India only. It is powered by NASSCOM and some of the leading IT companies in the business.

International liaison office: this aims to foster students for future abroad studies and promoting collaboration of NITC and other international bodies.

Hostels: there are fully equipped hostels for boys (near academics) and girls (near residential complex). All hostels have their individual mess and in all have 12 hostels where students are accommodated based on their year of study.

Sports: NITC have exquisite sports facilities, cricket ground where Ranjhi trophy matches are played, basketball, volleyball, gymnasium, open air theatre etc.

Admissions to NITC are done based upon the merit list of AIEEE exam i.e. the engineering entrance exam conducted by CBSE for admission to engineering colleges across India. While the MBA course offers by the NITC takes admissions from the CAT score. M. Tech and PhD are admissions done by the GATE paper conducted by IITs and lastly the program of MCA gets its admissions from NIMCET which are conducted for all the NITs in the country.

    My gate score is 498 in EE,GATE 2011. Will i get admission for M.Tech in NIT Calicut?
