NEET or National Eligibility cum entrance test is an All India Medical Entrance Exam for those seeking admission to MBBS in India.
Admission Procedure Details:
An all-India as well as a state-wise merit list of candidates would be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the NEET and the minimum marks should be 50% in NEET for admission to an MBBS course. It would be 40% for candidates falling under Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe and other backward caste and 45% for candidates with physical disability.

Eligibility for NEET:
The test will allow plus two students to sit in a single entrance exam to admission to almost all medical colleges in the country including private medical colleges.
A single merit list will be created for close to 35,000 MBBS seats across the country which will show state, minorities and SC/ST quotas. It would cover all the medical colleges except the armed forces medical college and the all India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi and the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh. It will not touch the management quota; it insists that even management quota candidates would come from the national merit list.
NEET is conducted by Medical Council of India. There are 271 medical colleges in the country out of which 138 are run by governments and remaining 133 under private management. There are 31,000 seats on offer for MBBS and another 11,000 seats for PG medical courses. National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) will draw up a merit lists at national and state levels separately for General Category, SC, ST and OBC and PD candidates.
