The National Eligibility Test, conducted by UGC, is the test for eligibility to lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship. Economics is one of the subjects of NET. The subject has two papers. Paper II consists of multiple choice type questions and paper III has conventional type questions. Here we describe the pattern of Paper III of Economics.

The paper is of duration of two hours and a half and the maximum marks are 200. The paper is divided into four sections. The first section is of 25 marks. There are five questions in this section each carrying 5 marks. The word limit for each answer is 30 words.

Section II consists of 15 questions, each carrying 5 marks. The sub total of this section is 75 marks. The word limit is 30 words.

Section III has five questions, each carrying 12 marks. The word limit is 200 words. One elective can be taken and all the five questions can be answered. The sub total of this section is 60 marks.
Section IV consists of one question. This question is of 40 marks.
