The National Eligibility Test has Sociology as one of the subjects in it. There are two papers of the subject- Paper II and Paper III. Paper II is an objective type test, with 50 MCQs. This is a 100 mark test. Paper II, on the other hand, is a conventional exam with detailed answer type questions. The pattern of paper III is provided below.

Paper III of Sociology is a hundred marks exam of duration two hours and a half. There are four sections in the paper. Section I has five questions of 5 marks each. The questions have to be answered in maximum 30 words each. This section carries 25 marks in total.

Section II has 15 questions, each carrying 5 marks. The word limit is the same as in the first section. This section is of 75 marks.

Section C has 5 questions from each elective. Students can answer all the 5 questions from the elective of their choice. The word limit for this section is 200 words per question. Each question is of 12 marks. So the total of this section is 60 marks.

The last section has four questions, out of which one is to be answered. This is an essay type question carrying 40 marks. The word limit for this question is 1000 words.
