The main legal spokesperson of the prosecution is known as the Prosecutor. Prosecutors are allied either to the civil law inquisitorial system or the common law adversarial system. The legal parties who are responsible for presenting a criminal case against an individual who is suspected to have broken the law are called as the prosecution. Candidates who have finished their course can find employment as Advocate General, Public Prosecutor or as Solicitor in addition to Deputy / Additional Advocate General.

Qualifying Exam

Candidates who aspire to become public prosecutors must appear for the examination that is set by the Union Public Service commission (UPSC). The written test is followed by an interview. The selected candidates will be notified through mail.

Who is eligible to apply?

Candidates who are applying for this exam must be citizens of India. They must be atleast 35 years at the time of applying. Candidates who are applying for the post of senior prosecutor must be a minimum 40 years of age. The minimum qualification required for the candidates is a Degree in Law.

How to prepare for exam and interview?

Candidates who are appearing for the written examination must be well prepared. They can either go for coaching classes or study by themselves. Candidates can also conduct a group study. In addition to this, they can prepare for the examination by writing mock test papers. This can be bought from book stores. It can even be downloaded from the internet. Practicing on these questions will help the candidate time themselves. It is also possible for the candidates to consult the previous alumni. When they appear for the interview, the candidates must be prepared to answer in a calm and modest manner. They must answer in an honest manner. It would also be good if the candidates answer unhurriedly. This will provide them a chance to think. The candidates must make sure that they answer in a directly when the questions are asked.
