The Indian Law Institute was established on December 27, 1956. The institute act as an international centre for advanced socio-legal research. The institute is famous for having done significant work in the field of legal research, education and training. The institute is registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 No. S. 1049 of 1956-57. The institute was formally inaugurated at the Central Hall of Parliament by none other than, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, who was the first President of India.
