Tata Institute of Fundamental Research is one of the prominent institutions that offer research facilities for eligible candidates. The admission to the postgraduate courses and the research programs are offered through certain entrance exams. Ph.D in Mathematics Entrance Exam is carried out for the selection of candidates in to the research program in Mathematics. The written exam is carried out for the selection of candidates in to both integrated Ph.D program and regular Ph.D course.

Structure of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Ph.D in Mathematics Entrance Exam

The test is based on the topics of the bachelor degree in mathematics. The duration of the entrance test is 90 minutes. The test will have true/ false model questions.  The total number of questions for the test is 30.

Eligibility Criteria

Those who possess bachelor’s degree in engineering or B.Sc/ B.A degree in mathematics can apply for integrated Ph.D degree in Mathematics. Ph.D degree in mathematics is awarded for those candidates who have completed their M.Tech/M.E degree or master’s degree in mathematics.

How to Apply?

The application for TIFR Ph.D degree in Mathematics can be submitted through online method only. Students of remote areas have the provision to send the application through post. In such case the candidate should request for application, along with an envelope of 25cmx 17cm and a stamp of Rs. 20/-. The candidate should pay a fixed amount of fee for attending the entrance test. The amount is Rs. 500/- for online applications and Rs. 550/- for applications submitted through postal method. The payment can be made through Credit/Debit card. This can also be paid in the form of Demand Draft drawn from State Bank of India. The DD amount must be taken in favor of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. The same must be payable at Mumbai also. After paying the fee amount, filled up applications must be forwarded to the notified address before final date.

How to fill the Form?

  • Review the guidelines given in the brochure before filling the form
  • Fill up the columns in the application form with exact information
  • Submit online/postal application prior to last date
  • The name of the candidate must be put on the back of the Demand Draft, in case of postal application method
  • Keep the hardcopy of the submitted application for future referrals
