AIPMT exam preparation has to be done keeping in mind the nature and scope of the exam. This competitive exam is conducted in two stages – preliminary examination and final examination. Those who clear the preliminary examination are eligible to appear for the final examination. Primarily, aspirants should have a clear idea regarding the examination pattern, syllabus, duration of examination, important areas of study etc. to score well. Tips related to subjects of study

Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany, Zoology) are the three subjects covered in AIPMT exam. All the three subjects need equal focus so as to score maximum marks. Placing importance on any one or either of the subjects can adversely affect candidate’s prospects.

AIPMT follows the NCERT syllabus. Candidates should have a clear idea about the syllabus and proceed accordingly. Physics contains 21 units, Chemistry 30 and Biology 10 units. Candidates can start by scheduling their study plan. This can be done in a time bound manner with realistic aspirations.

Care should be given in certain areas like formulas in Physics, Organic Chemistry and terms in Biology. Revision is required in these areas for concepts to stay on top of mind.

Aspirants can use various study materials for in depth study. The NCERT text is the prescribed text book for study. Various other reference materials like Pradeep’s Biology, Trueman’s Biology, AC Dutta for Botany, HC Verma for Physics, Peter Atkins and Julio de Paula for Physical Chemistry, Morrision Boyd for Organic Chemistry can also be used for preparation. There are many web sites where study materials are available. Previous year question papers should be worked out to get an idea regarding the type of questions and to assess the difficulty level.

Candidates can prepare study notes and highlight important points for easy recall during revision.

Points to note while writing AIPMT examination

Candidates should read the information bulletin at least once before writing the examination. It contains useful information regarding how to fill the examination booklet, rules and regulations, instructions to be followed in the examination hall etc.

Care should be taken while filling the OMR sheet. Candidates should adhere to the instructions specified. Candidates can also try out model/practice papers to learn to do the blackening correctly and with speed.

The examination has negative marks for wrong answers. There will be four options with one correct answer. Candidates should avoid guessing the answer.

The Preliminary examination consists of three hundred objective type questions and the final examination consists of one hundred and twenty objective type questions to be answered in three hours. Time management is an important factor here. Practice as many tests as possible to improve speed.
