Persian is one of the subjects of the Civil Services examination conducted by the Union Public Services Commission. It is one of the literature or language papers in which the candidates can take the test. This paper is particularly useful for those who have studies Persian at the graduate or the postgraduate level.

Qualification:

Anyone with a graduate degree from a recognized university.

Number of attempts:

The permissible number of attempts for general candidates is 4, and for SC/ST, it is 7.

Eligibility:

To be eligible to sit for the Civil Services main examination, one has to clear the preliminary examination which is civil services aptitude test.

Scoring and Negative Marking:

All the questions in the paper of Persian carry 60 marks, and there is no scheme of negative marking.

Mode of Exam:

The test is a conventional exam based on paper-pen. Students have to write descriptive questions.

Format:

The Civil Services Main Persian paper I has all subjective questions.

Paper Pattern:

The question paper has two sections and there are 8 questions spanning the two sections. Out of these five are to be answered. Question number 1 and 5 are compulsory questions. Students can answer any three from the remaining questions, but they need to take at least one from each of the two sections. The questions can have sub questions. however, there can be a single essay type question which can carry 60 marks alone. Questions span the entire syllabus mentioned in the syllabus of civil services Persian paper I. each and every area of the subject is important, so a student should study the syllabus very thoroughly.

Total Marks:

Each of the questions is of 60 marks, so the total marks of the paper are 300.

Time:

The time given to answer the test is three hours. Time is a big factor as the paper can become very lengthy.
