Re: Can I apply for IAF after clearing my engineering backlogs?

Hey guys, my name is abishek. Recently i wrote my university exams and that i wrote well. By the time i applied for my afcat examination 2014 which is going to be held on august 24, 2014. I am intensively preparing for it since my aim to achieve an officer ranking(starting-flying officer) in IAF. But recently the my university examination results were published and that i got a backlog in it. But i hope i will surely clear it in a revaluation. Can i attend my afcat exam, but while i was applying afcat i gave upto my 5th semester marks and i am having nearly 76%. Please answer my question that can i attend... My opinion is that i can take up the exam but whether can i attend the SSB interview with the arrear after my afcat. My next chance to clear my arrear is Nov/Dec 2014. But i like to take afcat exam on august 2014 and not in feb 2015. Please reply to my answer....

hello dear

YES. right now you can apply for IAF after clearing your engineering backlogs.

you can get chance in air force mainly in two ways

1.Through UPSC exam. this exam you can appear after your graduation course.

2.Through UES exam. which exam you can appear in the final year of your btech.

there have other procedure like TES,TDS etc.

all the best.........

for applying to afcat or any other defense exam like cdse you should be in your final year or passout without any active backlog, minimum 21 yrs old and 60% marks in average of all the semesters.hence you can definately sit for iaf exam if you have fulfilled the above criterias.

Re: Can I apply for IAF after clearing my engineering backlogs?

Yes you can definitely apply for Indian Air Force since you do not have any backlogs presently in your Engineering course. In your fourth year you can apply for the CDSE Examination conducted by the UPSC Board. If your an NCC Candidate then you can even apply for the NCC Special Entry scheme. The above mentioned entries are used to enter into the Flying Branch.

Technical Branch
You dint mention which stream are you presently undergoing in Engineering.
Since your an Engineer you can even enter into the Technical Branch of Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) and Aeronautical Engineering (Mechanical). If your to enter the Aeronautical(Electronic) branch then you should have covered any of these 8 subjects mentioned below:-
(1)Physics / Engineering Physics.
(2) Mathematics / Engineering Mathematics.
(3) Engineering Graphics / Engineering Drawing.
(4) Electrical Engineering / Electrical Technology.
(5) Control Engineering.
(6) Microprocessors.
(7) Digital Electronics / Basic Electronics.
(8) Computer Networks.
(9) Information Technology.
(10) Network Theory Design.
(11) Telecommunication Systems.
(12) Electronic Circuit Design.
(13) Radar Theory.
(14) Switching Theory.
(15) Instrumentation.
(16) Microwave Engineering.
(17) Antenna and Wave Propagation.
(18) Electronic Devices.

In Aeronautical(Mechanical) you should have covered 8 of the mentioned subjects
(1) Physics / Engineering Physics.
(2) Engineering Maths / Mathematics.
(3) Engineering Drawing / Graphics.
(4) Automotive Engineering / Plant Engineering / Industrial Engineering.
(5) Engineering Mechanics / Strength of Material.
(6) Aerodynamics.
(7) Thermodynamics and Applications / Heat Power Engineering.
(8) Heat and Mass Transfer.
(9) Theory of Machines (Kinematics and Dynamics of Machinery).
(10) Fluid Mechanics / Turbo Machines.
(11) Flight Mechanics.

(14) Material Science / Metallurgy.
